The 58th Annual Village Voice Obie Awards, celebrating achievement in the Off-Broadway and off-off Broadway theatre, were given out on May 20th, 2013 at a ceremony at Webster Hall. A great deal of work produced by School of the Arts alumni and faculty was recognized at this year's ceremony. more
 
Sarah Sze, Professor of Visual Arts at Columbia University School of the Arts, was chosen last year to represent the United States at La Biennale di Venezia. Her work, set to be unveiled on June 1st, is presented by Holly Block and the Bronx Museum of the Arts in the 55th International Art Exhibition. more
 
Theatre Program alumnus and Hartford Stage artistic director Darko Tresnjak ('98) will stage the new musical comedy A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder on Broadway in fall 2013. more
 
Visual Arts alumna Caitlin Cherry ('12) will present Hero Safe at Brooklyn Museum from June 7 to September 1, 2013.   Cherry is the ninth artist in the Brooklyn Museum’s Raw/Cooked series, which presents under-the-radar Brooklyn artists. more
 
Kate Barker-Froyland ('11 SOA) is set to direct Song One, an upcoming film from Barker-Froyland's original script. Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway will co-produce and star in the film. Song One revolves around the love story between an archeologist and a rock star. Shooting will begin this Fall with Worldview Entertainment (The Immigrant, Blood Ties, Jimmy P.) financing and producing the film. more
 
The script for Murder of A Cat, written by Robert Snow ('10 SOA) and Christian Magalhaes ('10 SOA), is currently in pre-production under producer Sam Raimi (30 Days of Night, The Grudge, Xena: Warrior Princess). more
