Current Film Student's Shorts Screen at Prestigious Festivals Across the Country

Current Student Nathalie Álvarez Mesén’s shorts have played at several prestigious festivals around the country. Her short Filip has had a strong festival run with screenings all over the country, including the Los Angeles Film Festival, Outfest, Palm Springs Shortfest – where it took home the prize for Best Live Action Short 15 minutes and Under – Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival, the Hamptons Film Festival, and the New Orleans Film Festival.

Filip tells the story of a seven-year-old protagonist of the same name, whose abiding admiration for his his sixteen-year-old brother Sebastian is tested when he witnesses an unexpected event between Sebastian and Sebastian’s best friend.

Another short directed by Mesén, Asunder, screened in Telluride’s Calling Card Program, curated by Barry Jenkins (Moonlight). It also won the Jury's Prize in the Shnit International Short Film Festival.
