Film Internships

At the Columbia MFA Film Program, we approach the making of film as an art form but we never neglect that it is both a technology and a business as well.  In order to prepare our students for the rigors and expectations of real-world film work, we support and encourage them to take internships for credit while still enrolled in our program. Along with introducing students to the jobs they will be vying for after graduation, these internships are also excellent ways in which to build their resumes, safely explore career options, and sometimes even get a foot in the door of companies where they'd like to work at in the future.

Film MFA Internship Program

We consistently procure, monitor and place our students in internships at some of the most prestigious and competitive companies in the film industry in New York, Los Angeles and elsewhere; NBC (30 Rock), Sony Pictures Classics, The Levinson/Fontana Company, Comedy Central, Focus Features, and Metro Goldwyn Mayer, are just a few of the companies where Columbia students have held internships and, in some instances, been hired afterwards as employees.
