Phillip LopateStudents evaluate classical and current film criticism, with special attention paid to the rise of independent cinema and sociological film criticism. Students write brief reviews for each session.
Prerequisites: The instructor's permission. Prospective students must submit writing samples by November 15. See the Film Program MFA page for course information and requirements.
