Join us Thursday, April 6th, at 7 pm, for another fabulous lineup! Selected by the Columbia Writing Program, our readers are sure to enchant and amaze.

Our lineup this month:

Monica Lewis's fiction and nonfiction have appeared or are forthcoming in Apogee, AAWW's The Margins, and The JFR, and her poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in Rust + Moth, The Boiler Journal, Yes, Poetry, FLAPPERHOUSE, Breadcrumbs, the Shade Journal, and the anthology, TOUCHING: Poems of Love, Longing, and Desire by Fearless Books, among others. She is a VONA/Voices alumna and an assistant editor at NOON Annual. Her full collection of poetry, Sexting the Dead, is forthcoming in 2017, and she is currently at work on a short story collection.

Emily Hall is an editor at The Museum of Modern Art, New York, and has written for Artforum since 2003. Her current work is situated between writing and art and examines the things that lie on the outskirts of each. Her ongoing interests include the philosophy of grammar, things that are almost art/things that are almost not art, and Thomas Bernhard.

Since obtaining a degree in fiction, Catherine Quayle has worked almost exclusively in news and nonfiction. Her writing has appeared on Salon, Terrain, PBS, Today and CNN. She did, however, do a somewhat recent fiction residency at the Vermont Studio Center and is now easing back into the practice of making things up. She's currently working on a collection of essays about birds—"Birds, Like Us But Featherier"—which is not really the title.

What is Columbia Selects? The first Thursday of each month the Columbia MFA program hosts a reading series featuring Writing Program alumni. These fresh talents are finished with or near to finished with their first books, but do not yet have a book contract and/or an agent. In recent years, many of our featured writers have achieved critical and commercial success. This is your chance to glimpse who you'll be reading in 2018!

Columbia Selects is curated by Bryan VanDyke and Emily Austin.
