Emma Hammond-Thomas

Emma Thomas offers an expression of the otherwise invisible intimacy of our bodies, relationships, and gestures. Using rope to wrap and bind each model's body, she then casts those binds in bronze, aluminum, resin, and silicone, making the absent present. She explores the body and physicality of each sitter through the material qualities of her various mediums. Born and living in New York City, she received her MFA from Columbia University and her BFA from Bard College.
