Congratulations to all graduates of Columbia University School of the Arts. Below are just a few announcements regarding the Commencement ceremonies in May. The graduation events include two ceremonies. The first is the University-wide Commencement Ceremony which begins at 10:30 a.m. on Low Plaza and the second is the School of the Arts Celebration of Graduates at 2:00 PM in Miller Theatre. Both ceremonies are held on Wednesday, May 22.
Cap and Gown Distribution
Academic regalia for all master's degree candidates are available for purchase through the Columbia University Bookstore. No pre-ordering is necessary; simply go to the bookstore in Lerner Hall anytime beginning in late March to purchase a cap and gown. Regalia may be purchased up to the day of Commencement. These gowns are not rentals, but yours to keep with purchase for $57.

Dodge Hall plaza
Columbia University School of the Arts graduates and their guests are invited to enjoy a complimentary box lunch in Dodge Hall immediately following the Columbia University Commencement ceremony. Guests must keep their Columbia University Commencement tickets, as they will need to present them to receive lunch.

Miller Theatre
We are excited to announce that David Byrne will deliver the keynote address at the School of the Arts Celebration of Graduates. David Byrne is the force behind Talking Heads and creator of the highly regarded record label Luaka Bop. Byrne also works as a photographer, film director, author and solo artist, and has published and exhibited visual art for more than a decade. Read more here > >
Graduates will be recognized by Carol Becker, Dean of Faculty, and program chairs Ira Deutchman, Christian Parker, Gregory Amenoff and Ben Marcus.
Graduates assemble at 1:30 PM outside Miller Theatre.
Caps and gowns are optional; semi-formal attire is encouraged.

Columbia University School of the Arts graduates and their guests are invited to a reception in the graduates' honor, immediately following the Celebration of Graduates. Please come and enjoy food, drinks and music.
