Commencement: Wednesday, May 18, 2016

Congratulations to all graduates of Columbia University School of the Arts. Below are just a few announcements regarding the Commencement ceremonies in May. The graduation events include two ceremonies. The first is the University-wide Commencement Ceremony which begins at 10:30 am on Low Plaza and the second is the School of the Arts Celebration of Graduates at 2 pm in Miller Theatre. Both ceremonies are held on Wednesday, May 18.

Tickets for the University-Wide Commencement
All graduating students must register online to participate in the University-Wide Commencement. Information on reserving tickets will be emailed directly to students. Due to the number of graduates and space constraints, students will be limited to 3 tickets.

Tickets for the School of the Arts Celebration of Graduates
All graduating students must register online to participate in the School of the Arts Celebration of Graduates. Information on reserving tickets will be emailed directly to students. Graduates are allowed up to following number of guest tickets: Two (2) guest tickets for seating in Miller Theatre, Three (3) additional guest tickets for overflow seating in Dodge Hall (Room TBA), where the ceremony will be streamed live. Graduates must RSVP via the ticketing form to reserve their seat for the ceremony. A physical ticket will not be issued.

Cap and Gown Distribution
Academic regalia for all master's degree candidates will be available for purchase through the Columbia University Bookstore. No pre-ordering is necessary; simply go to the bookstore in Lerner Hall anytime beginning in late March to purchase a cap and gown. Regalia may be purchased up to the day of Commencement.

Graduates assemble at 9 am on the south end of the pedestrian overpass at 115th Street and Amsterdam.
Caps and gowns are mandatory.

School of the Arts Box Lunch and Social
Wednesday, May 18, 2016
12–1:30 pm
Dodge Hall Plaza

Columbia University School of the Arts graduates and their guests are invited to enjoy a complimentary box lunch on Dodge Plaza immediately following the Columbia University Commencement ceremony. Lunch tickets are required for graduates and their guests. Instructions for obtaining tickets will be forthcoming.

School of the Arts Celebration of Graduates (ticket survey will be sent shortly)
Wednesday, May 18, 2016
2–4 pm
Miller Theatre

Graduates will be recognized by Carol Becker, Dean of Faculty, and program chairs Maureen Ryan, Timothy Donnelly, Christian Parker and Shelly Silver. Keynote speaker TBA.

Graduates assemble between 1–1:30 pm outside Miller Theatre.
Caps and gowns are optional; semi-formal attire is encouraged.

School of the Arts Reception
Wednesday, May 18, 2016
4–6 pm
Dodge Hall Plaza

Columbia University School of the Arts graduates and their guests are invited to a reception in the graduates' honor, immediately following the Celebration of Graduates. Please come and enjoy food, drinks and music.

The School of the Arts Celebration of Graduates will be broadcast live from Miller Theatre on Wednesday, May 18 at 2 pm.
