Opening Night at Lincoln Center:

Alumnus Jack Paglen’s (’06 SOA) untitled feature film has been acquired by Alcon Entertataiment. Pre-production has begun on the film, which will mark the directorial debut of Oscar-winning cinematographer Wally Pfister.

"Girl in Progress", directed by alumna Patricia Riggen (’03 SOA) and starring Eva Mendes, Matthew Modine and Patricia Arquette, is being distributed by Pantelion Films and will open nationwide on April 27th.

 

 

 

Film alumus Jon Haller (’09 SOA) wrote the latest episode of ABC’s Last Man Standing. The episode can be viewed here.



 

Alumnus Bogdan George Apetri's ('06SOA) "Outbound" became the most nominated Romanian film of 2011 at the Gopos, the Romanian Oscars, with 12 nominations including Best Film and Best Director. Apetri is also adjunct faculty in the Film Program.
 

 

 

"I am John Wayne" is the Winner of the Hammer to Nail Short Film Contest for March 2012. The film is written and directed by Christina Choe (4th year Directing), produced by Esra Saydam (4th year Producing), co-produced by Mimi Jeffries (4th year Directing) and Gerry Kim (’11), and edited by David Gutnik (5th year Screenwriting).

20th Century Fox recently announced that alumnus Simon Kinberg (’03) will be writing the script for the sequel to "X-Men: First Class," which is to be produced by Bryan Singer and directed by Matthew Vaughn.

13 Columbia Filmmakers involved in this year's SXSW Festival
 
Film Program alumni and students screened their films at the prestigious world-renowned SXSW Film Festival, in Austin Texas from March 9 -17, 2012.
 

Keep the Lights On, written and directed by Ira Sachs (Adjunct Faculty), won the Teddy Award for the best film with a queer cinema theme at this year's Berlinale.
