Ken Rus Schmoll is a theater director who has achieved a string of Off-Broadway and Off-Off-Broadway successes. Most recently, he garnered positive reviews with Will Eno’s Middletown (Vineyard Theatre). He won an Obie Award for his direction of Ariana Reine’s Telephone (Cherry Lane), a tryptich the poet adapted from Avital Ronell’s philosophic work The Telephone Book. Other recent productions include Ann Marie Healy’s dystopian drama What We Once Felt (The Duke on 42nd Street), part of the Lincoln Center Theater’s LCT3 series. His productions of Anton Dudley’s Honor and the River and Rob Handel’s Millicent Scowlworthy were chosen as selections for the Public Theater’s Summer Play Festivals of 2004 and 2006. Other past productions include The Internationalist (45 Bleecker Theater), October/November (Ensemble Studio Theatre), Mark Smith (Walkerspace), Aphrodisiac (Performance Space 122), Girl Blog from Iraq (The Culture Project/Women Center Stage), Demon Baby (Clubbed Thumb), Cause for Alarm (NY Fringe), and Alice Invents a Little Game (Vineyard Theatre/Poetry Theatre Project).
